Groovy Smoothie Long Island 606.jpg

It was 115 degrees in the Grand Canyon. I was living in my van, I had recently quit my job, my health insurance had just run out, and life felt like it was spinning off its axis. Somewhere between the heat and the chaos, I had one of those wild, out-of-nowhere visions — an octopus in sunglasses, chilling in the rocks, sipping a smoothie and holding a pineapple like it didn't have a single care in the world.

I wanted something cold. Something refreshing. Something that made sense when nothing else did.

Shortly after the trip, I returned to my home on the south shore of Long Island — a place packed with people but seriously lacking in quality smoothies — and started the hunt for a trailer to call home base. I found one down in Georgia, hauled it back, and rebuilt it myself from the ground up: solar power, plumbing, electrical, flooring — all of it, piece by piece.

That trailer became The Groovy Smoothie.

Since then, we've rolled up to music festivals, businesses, schools, and backyard parties across Long Island — bringing a little bit of that cold, colorful, "octopus-in-sunglasses" energy wherever we go. Established in 2023. Expanded to Ocean Beach, Fire Island in 2024. Now serving communities all across Long Island, one smoothie at a time.

Our Ingredients

All of our menu items are non-dairy and locally sourced whenever possible.

Real frozen fruits and vegetables for hearty, thick smoothies.

Why do we use Frozen Fruit? Frozen fruit is actually more nutrient-dense since it’s frozen from the vine, immediately sealing in all the good stuff.

The Groovy Lineup

Groovy Smoothie Long Island 917.jpg

The Groovy Smoothie started with a simple idea: good vibes and good nutrition shouldn't be complicated. What began as a simple truck rolling through local farmers' markets and street fairs quickly turned into something bigger — a mobile hangout spot where friends, families, and strangers-turned-friends could slow down, sip something delicious, and soak up a little sunshine.

We believe in real ingredients, bold flavors, and that signature "groovy" energy — the kind that turns a quick smoothie run into the best part of your day. From hand-blended smoothies packed with fresh fruit to refreshing sorbets and a menu built for sharing, every stop we make is about connection as much as it is about flavor.

Our trailer runs on sunshine (solar power), and if you look closely at the side, you'll spot a custom wave design made out of wampum — a nod to Long Island's shores and a little piece of craftsmanship built right into the ride.

Whether we're parked at your favorite local spot or setting up for your next private event, our goal stays the same: bring people together over something colorful, cool, and made with care. So grab a cup, find some shade, and join the movement — one smoothie at a time.

We accept Wapum!

Wampum is a small piece of the inside of clam and whelk shells — deep purples and bright whites, polished up and full of history.

Native tribes of the Northeast, including nations right here on Long Island, have used wampum for centuries: for trade, storytelling, ceremony, and connection. It's more than decoration — it's a piece of the land, the water, and the people who came before us. A little bit of history riding along with every smoothie.

Bring us your wapum to add to the wave mosaic.
